By A 17-year-old girl, identified as Seun Adekunle, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police for faking her own kidnap.
She was arrested alongside her 25-year-old boyfriend, Basit Olasunkanmi.
The mother of the suspect, Bukky Adekunle, reported at Enugada police division on the 4th of June 2020 that she sent her daughter to Lafenwa market since on the 1st of June 2020 and has not returned since then.
Adding that she received a call from someone two days later who claimed to have kidnap her daughter, demanding a ransom of N500,000, and threatening her not to make the mistake of reporting to the police if she still needs her daughter alive.
However, a technical and intelligence based investigation led the police to the hideout where the girl and her boyfriend were hiding and pretending to be with kidnappers.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the boyfriend, who is a butcher, was the one who brainwashed the girl and lured her into the plan because he needed money.
