Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has dismissed viral claims suggesting she is the daughter of Fuji musician Abass Akande Obesere, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The clarification follows the circulation of social media posts and videos alleging a familial relationship between the actress and the Fuji star. In a recent video response, Shokoya stated unequivocally that Obesere is not her biological father, urging the public to disregard the claim.
The controversy is believed to have stemmed from earlier remarks and online content that were widely misinterpreted, sparking speculation across platforms including Instagram and X.
Multiple entertainment blogs and digital platforms subsequently amplified the claim, further fuelling public debate.
In her response, Shokoya cautioned against the spread of unverified information, noting that the claim had caused unnecessary confusion about her family background.
Separate reports from different platforms also corroborate her denial, quoting the actress as reiterating that there is no biological link between her and the singer.
As of the time of filing this report, Obesere has not publicly responded to the controversy.
