It appears the decision of former president Olusegun Obasanjo to endorse Peter Obi’s candidacy has failed to bear fruits for the Labour Party presidential candidate.
Recall Obasanjo had publicly endorsed Obi, saying he is a better candidate than Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
But according to final election results from the ex-president’s polling unit, Labour Party had a poor outing.
In Unit 2, Ward 11, Abeokuta North Local Government Polling Unit, where the former president cast his vote, APC secured the highest number of votes.
Labour Party managed to secure just nine votes and PDP placed third with seven votes
While the ruling party got 56 votes, Labour Party managed to secure just nine votes and PDP placed third with seven vote.
Interestingly, 91 voters were accredited in the polling unit, a small chunk of the 693 registered voters — an indication of the low voter turnout that has marked the ongoing elections.
