NYSC gets new Director-General, Fadah

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Bridagier-General Mohammed Fadah as the 19th Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Fadah takes over from Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, the 18th DG of the scheme.

According to reports, the new DG who hails from Yobe State is expected to resume office on Wednesday, with plans in place to hold a farewell parade for his predecessor who bows out of office after spending two tenures.

“The Federal Government has appointed a new Director-General for the NYSC; he’s Brigadier General Mohammed Fada from Yobe State. He was in NYSC on Tuesday and has been briefed by the outgoing DG, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim.

“After the farewell parade, Ibrahim will come and hand over and leave. It is good that when you’re leaving, it should be tears of joy and instead of people praying,” a source was quoted as saying by The PUNCH.

The outgoing NYSC DG assumed office in May 2019. Ibrahim, an Associate Professor of History and War Studies at the Nigerian Defence Academy, served as the Registrar of the Nigerian Army University, Borno State, before he was appointed to head the scheme.
