Veteran Nollywood actress, Ireti Doyle has confirmed her legal separation from film producer and actor husband, Patrick Doyle.
The Tinsel star made this known in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo where she announced that she and Patrick “are officially divorced.”
However, the duo who tied the knot in 1999 after Patrick lost his first wife to sickle cell anaemia, had long separated after the actress moved out of her matrimonial home in 2017.
While Ireti did not mention the reason behind the divorce, she said in the interview that she had no business getting married at the time she did after being a victim to physical and domestic violence as a teen.
“The truth of the matter is that I had no business being married at that time, period! Let’s not even go to the choice of who I got married to.
“I can’t sacrifice my life in the altar of your imagination or your fantasy,” she said.
The 55-year-old actress shared six children with Patrick Doyle before their marriage hit the rocks.
