In an unexpected move, Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered the freezing of accounts for the 18 local government areas and 33 local council development areas (LCDAs) in the state.
According to Platform Times, a letter to the Heads of Local Government Administration mandates the suspension of all spending and expenditure, stating, “No signing of cheques, no change of signatories, no withdrawal until further directive.”
Local officials express concerns, with one caretaker chairman revealing, “Yes, he has blocked the accounts. We don’t know why he’s doing that now.”
The Acting Governor has delegated official engagements to Deputy Chief of Staff Omojuwa Olusegun, raising questions about the motives behind these decisions.
Residents and stakeholders await further directives for clarity on the situation.
