No, Bowen University VC’s Wife Not Pregnant, See Reason For Viral Rumour

For several hours, the social media sphere has been agog after it was alleged that a certain 400L student of the Bowen University had impregnated the wife of the institution’s Vice Chancellor.

According to tweets on Twitter, where the story was first posted, it was alleged that the VC, Professor Joshua Ogunwole suspended over 100 students when he discovered that his wife had been put in the family way by one of the students.

BlackBox Nigeria reliably gathered that the false narrative was to cover the immorality of the students who had been using certain drugs while on campus and were about to be caught when the VC announced a compulsory drug test.

In an attempt to evade the test exercise, a group of students set a part of the School Hostel on fire which prompted the Management to shut down the institution. This was disclosed in the statement made available to the public and obtained by BBN.

The statement as released by the VC on his Twitter page revealed that the closing down of the school was a tough but a necessary one and resumption date will be communicated with the students.

“It has been a long day – Apparently every leader has a day like this. Howbeit, I shall not give answers which you already know. Instead, I’ll like to reaffirm my commitment to the re-positioning and re-branding of @bowenuniversity .

“As a Christian Institution bent on instilling excellence and godliness in Students and ensuring that our products are are unequivocally, god -fearing, disciplined and honest in all their dealings across the world. We would continue our war against indiscipline, immorality and the common vices that has made our society barely tolerable for sane minds. I personally, deem it fit that I owe the society an obligation to mentor young minds into becoming great people. I trust that the parents would join forces and remain as supportive as ever.

“The decision to close down the institution has been a tough one, which we hope that students and Parents would bear with. I wish all our students in transit safe landing. The management would communicate a resumption date in due course.”
