NLC Ends Warning Strike, Members to Resume Work

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has officially terminated its two-day warning strike, issuing directives for its members to resume work, on Thursday.

This move follows intense nationwide participation by affiliate unions, characterized as a resolute commitment to defending the rights of Nigerian workers and citizens against economic hardships.

The NLC applauded the unwavering support and massive participation of its affiliate unions during the strike action, commending their dedication to the cause.

Howevehe Congress also issued a stern warning, stating that these unions must remain prepared for indefinite industrial action if the Federal Government fails to take substantial measures to alleviate the suffering of workers due to the removal of fuel subsidies.

In a press statement signed by NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, the organization expressed its gratitude to affiliates, State Councils, and members for their active involvement in the nationwide warning strike.

Ajaero emphasized that the strike aimed to highlight the necessity of the government prioritizing the welfare of its citizens and adhering to established statutes.

Ajaero’s statement also underlined the progress made during the strike, attributing it to the united message conveyed to the government.

The NLC called upon its members to conclude the strike gracefully and return to work as agreed, marking the end of the two-day warning strike at midnight.
