The Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) has announced the resumption of its financial services nationwide and beyond after renewing its International Money Transfer Operator (IMTO) and Super-Agent licences with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to Postmaster General and CEO Tola Odeyemi, the IMTO licence, which had been suspended for about eight years, was reinstated after settling outstanding fines.

This development will enable NIPOST to restart domestic agency banking and international remittance operations.

The organisation exceeded its N10 billion revenue target last year by digitising processes and plugging operational leakages.

With the new financial services lines and an aggressive e-commerce strategy, NIPOST expects to surpass previous performance and unlock greater returns.

NIPOST is also signing bilateral agreements with neighbouring countries, including Togo and Benin, to facilitate smoother remittances within Africa.

The organisation plans to deepen its integration with Nigeria’s e-commerce sector through products like PostMoni and the National Addressing System, driving financial inclusion and security.
