Nigeria’s Super Eagles maul Sao Tome to secure biggest win ever

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, on Monday, recorded their biggest win ever after beating The Falcons and True Parrots of Sao Tome and Principe in the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations qualification series.

Jose Peseiro’s men stole the show at the Adrar Stadium in Morocco after they grabbed a resounding victory over their opponents, scoring 10 goals to secure three points to emerge Group A leaders.

Napoli star Victor Osimhen scored four goals in the thrilling game. The prolific striker first found the back of the net in the ninth minute, followed by his second goal in the 48th minute. In the second half, he netted in 65th and 84th minutes. This was his first hat-trick and haul for the senior team.

Terem Moffi scored twice in the 43rd and 60th minutes, just as Oghenekaro Etebo (55′) Ademola Lookman (63′) and Emmanuel Dennis (90+2′) got one goal each.

This victory means that the Super Eagles have secured their biggest ever win in history. Nigeria’s previous record win was a 10-1 victory over Benin Republic, formerly known as Dahomey, in Lagos on November 28, 1959.
