By Nigeria’s D’Tigress win #Afrobasket2017 without losing a single game
Nigeria has won the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title for the third time. D’Tigress carried the day last night defeating highly rated defending champions, Senegal who have won the competition a record 11 times.
Nigeria had an impressive run heading to the final game without losing a single match. D’Tigress would go on to prove their mettle by defeating Senegal at the finals after initially edging them off in the last game of Group B.
Hosts Mali also clinched the bronze after beating Mozambique in the third place game.
Both Nigeria and Senegal have now qualified for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup holding in Spain next year.
