Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has made history by securing their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket championship, defeating Mali 78–64 in the final held at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

This victory cements Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s basketball, extending their unbeaten streak in the tournament to 29 games since 2015.

The final was a rematch of the 2021 championship game, where Nigeria also triumphed over Mali.

Under the leadership of Coach Rena Wakama, D’Tigress showcased resilience and tactical prowess throughout the tournament.

Their path to the final included a hard-fought 75–68 semifinal victory against arch-rivals Senegal, marking their seventh consecutive win over the Senegalese team.

With this historic win, Nigeria’s D’Tigress not only reaffirm their supremacy in African women’s basketball but also set a new benchmark for excellence and consistency in the sport.
