The Nigeria women’s basketball team, also known as D’Tigress, has emerged as Africa’s sole representative in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Basketball tournament.
Their qualification was confirmed following Belgium’s victory over Senegal during the ongoing 2024 Olympics qualification tournament in Belgium.
Despite a challenging loss to the United States with a scoreline of 100-46 in their second game, D’Tigress secured their Olympic ticket thanks to a favorable result in another group match.
This will be Nigeria’s third appearance in the women’s basketball event at the Olympic Games. D’Tigress previously qualified for the Athens 2004 Olympics and featured in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
With their qualification confirmed, D’Tigress will proudly represent the continent of Africa in the anticipated female basketball event.
