Nigeria’s Body of Benchers Approve Use of Hijab During Call to Bar
The Muslim Community in Nigeria have again won another battle by effecting the review of rules guiding the use of Hijab for call to Bar.
In an online text circulated by the leadership of the Muslims rights group, Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, there are reports that the body of Benchers approved the usage of Hijab today.
MURIC also said Firdaus Amasa the lady who started the campaign by refusing to remove her hijab at the call to bar last year, has also been invited to attend the Call to Bar coming up this July 2018.
“Reports reaching MURIC National Secretariat a few minutes ago, today Thursday 21st June 2018, says the Body of Benchers has approved the use of hijab during Call to Bar.

“In addition, Firdaus Amasa has been invited to attend the Call to Bar coming up this July 2018, ” the group wrote in the online text.
MURIC commended the Body of Benchers for painstakingly reviewing the case and allowing professionalism to be the deciding factor. It appreciated Muslim leaders who intervened on behalf of Firdaus Amasa and showed gratitude to the House of Representatives for the positive role it played in this matter.
“We felicitate with all Islamic organizations as well as Muslim brothers and sisters who stood with us all these days, particularly during the aborted public hearing in the National Assembly.”
