Nigerians react as PDP elects 25-year-old National Youth Leader

The emergence of a 25-year-old Mohammed Kadade Suleiman as the National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has currently set tongues wagging across the country.

Suleiman, who is from Kaduna State, garnered 3,072 votes to defeat another candidate from the State, Usman Elkudan, who got 219 votes at the party’s just-concluded national convention on Saturday.

Nigerians have, however, taken to social media to react to the development. Here are some of their comments.

Political activist, Deji Adeyanju, @dejiadeyanju wrote: “It’s seems PDP may be ready to change after all. 25yrs old elected as its Youth Leader. I’m super impressed. The other old guy had more influence and big names supporting him but the young man got it.”

@SodiqTade said: “APC National Youth Leader 40+. PDP National Youth Leader 25+. Come to PDP, let us rescue the country together.”

@GRVLagos stated: “A young vibrant 25 year old emerges as national youth leader…..can your party ever….We are not the future, WE ARE THE NOW.

@_samcleave wrote: “25 years old youth leader in PDP or what am I hearing? We disqualified an over 35 year old man who wanted to be SW youth leader, now we have a 25 year old leader for youth. Nigerians, PDP is giving platforms to the youths. Join us now.”

@whitenigerian said: “I’m so happy to see 25 year old @abba_kadade get elected as National Youth Leader for PDP. Just like he did, the youths need to get involved in Politics more, not just on social media. Congratulations.”
