Nigerians might be facing yet another tough time as the Federal government is aiming at introducing a fresh tax policy which will have road users pay for using government roads, BlackBox Nigeria has learnt.
Making this disclosure on Thursday, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Muhammed Nami said his organization is proposing a Road Infrastructure Tax which will have Nigerians contribute to infrastructural development.
He said this while receiving a delegation of the Chris Isiguzo led Nigerian Union of Journalists in Abuja.
The FIRS Chairman while blaming reduced revenue from Petroleum on the reason the government is short of funds revealed that the proposed tax regime will help government take care of road construction, maintain them, rehabilitate some and also provide adequate security on the roads for users across the country.
