Nigerians Blast FBI For Concentrating On Six Nigerians On 79 Man Wanted List

Nigerians on micro blogging app, Twitter has called out the office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI for using 6 Nigerians as poster of a fraudulent gang which consists of 73 other nationals.

The FBI had taken to twitter to seek help of the general public to search for the six Nigerian nationals who were wanted for their involvement in business email compromise (BEC)  schemes which resulted in the loss of over $6m. It was learnt that the update was a result of the Bureau’s success on clamping down some international cyber criminals, with some of the suspects traced to be Nigerians.

Here is the post in which the FBI used to seek for help from the general public…

Reacting to the news release, Twitter Nigeria alleged that the FBI was being racist by using Nigerians in the gang of 79 wanted persons as poster boys. The social media users argued that it could have been better if the FBI listed out other nationals also wanted, instead of using Nigerians as sign post to announce the wanted cyber criminals.
