Operation Crocodile Smile now ongoing in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Army has begun an overt operation in the Niger Delta as troops have been deployed in what has been tagged ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’.

BlackBox Nigeria has learnt that at least 3,000 soldiers have been drafted to the six Niger Delta states to ensure adequate security as authorities say it is not a show of force against any persons or group but a ‘confidence-building patrol’.

The Operation Crocodile Smile has been stated to run from Saturday, October 7 to 28th of the same month.

According to the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Major General Enobong Udoh, Crocodile Smile is a reassurance to the general public that their safety is guaranteed at all times against criminal elements.

“Operation Crocodile Smile is not a show of force but a confidence-building patrol that seeks to reassure the people of Rivers State and the Niger Delta that the army is ready to work.

We are ready to work with other security agencies of government to ensure that there is peace and security.

Our operation aims to reassure the public that we are ready to fight crimes like cultism, militancy, and kidnapping so that people can go about their business without fear.”
