Nigerian Idol is back on screen after four-month hiatus

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the 7th season of music reality show, Nigerian Idol, after about four months of break.

In a statement on Saturday, Busola Tejumola, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels, MultiChoice Nigeria, said the season is set to begin with an online audition from Sunday, November 14 till November 28, 2021.

“Season 7 promises to be even bigger and more entertaining, so if you believe you have what it takes to be the next Nigerian Idol, be a part of the auditions starting on November 14,” she said.

According to her, interested contestants are required to upload a 60-second video of themselves showcasing their singing talent with any song of their choice, and send to www.africamagic.tv.

She, however, included that contestants must also be between 16 and 30 years of age.

The statement added that the main screening of the competition on DStv and GOtv begins in February 2022, sponsored by BIGI.

Nigerian Idol is a reality show that brings hidden superstars to limelight and also expose contestants to bigger opportunity by empowering with whopping prizes enough to start their career

Many successful Nigerian artistes such as Mercy Chinwo, Iyanya, Praiz, Kaffy, Omawumi, Timi Dakoli, Chidinma Ekile, etc, all came to limelight through the platforms.

Also recall that the competition started its first season in 2010 with the tagline “Live your Dream. Accept No Limitations”, and its first ever winner was Onyekachi Elizabeth Gilbert Onwuka a.k.a “Yeka Onka”.

Other past winners of Nigerian Idol include Mercy Chinwo, Moses Obi Adigwe, Evelle, K-Peace and Kingdom Kroseide, who won the 6th season.
