Nigerian fan in severe pains following Super Eagles win

It was indeed a shocker for some football fans after Super Eagles of Nigeria beat all odds to defeat the Pharaohs of Egypt yesterday. Not just had the three-time AFCON silenced the doubters, they also beat against the odd of a fan whose disbelief of the Super Eagles victory was boldly caught on camera.

Nobody would have expected such from a die-hard fan who followed the supporters club all the way to Cameroon to cheer up the Super Eagles. Boldly zoomed in, the young fan dorned in his green-and-white jersey was captured in a now-viral video folding his hands on his head with a shocking expression that stood out among other jubilating fans.

From his expression, it was obvious that he had placed a bet with odd against Nigeria. He must have presumed the game will end in favour of the Egyptians or ended up in a draw. But the Super Eagles, however, took him and others by surprise as Kelechi Iheanacho’s lone goal drowned the Egyptians at Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua.

Before the kick-off, the odds were high for Egypt. Bet365 placed Egypt’s chance of winning at 1.75. This was defended by Sportgambler.com which stated reasons why Egypt would appear victorious over the Super Eagles. They gave their reasons as follows:
• Egypt have not lost any of their last 12 matches
• Egypt have won 10 of their past 17 matches
• Egypt have kept 9 clean sheets in their past 17 matches
• Egypt have scored 2 or more goals in 4 of their past 8 away matches

Unfortunately for the Mohammed Salah-led Egyptians, their records were broken by the dominant Super Eagles. The Pharaohs failed to keep a clean sheet and they also failed to find the back of the net. It was indeed a bad day out for the Egyptians and a bet went wrong for the doubters who had lost trust in the Super Eagles – including the fan who went all the way to Cameroon and still could not confide in a team he went to support.
