For two years, the coach of Cofine Football Club of Uyo in Akwa Ibom, Remi Amadi is expected to disassociate self from all football related activities.

This followed the decision of the football governing body, Football Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to ban him over manipulation of soccer matches.

The Director of Communications at Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Ademola Olajire made this known in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement read, “The world body’s Disciplinary Committee conveyed this decision to the NFF, and it is a consequence of a similar ban imposed on the coach by the Federation’s Disciplinary Committee at its meeting of Aug. 16.

“This was done through a letter dated Aug. 25, requesting the Committee to extend the sanction to have a worldwide effect, in accordance with Article 66 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.”

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Amadi was in August found guilty of attempting to manipulate the outcome of a match five months earlier.

NFF also stated that he admitted to the attempted manipulation charges of the match result between Cofine FC and Bussdor FC.

It was revealed that a partial decision on Amadi’s case was made based on an audio conversation evidence.

The NFF’s Disciplinary Committee also imposed a N500,000 fine on Cofine FC for its involvement in the action and inaction of its employee in the alleged match manipulation.
