Nigeria Police Force Dismiss 4 ‘SARS’ Officers Over N200,000 Extortion
An Assistant Superintendent of Police and three other junior officers have been dismissed by the Police Force after they were caught extorting money from unsuspecting citizens. Their dismissal is coming at a time several officers are being accused of corrupt practices without proper sanctions from the Force.
It was learnt that the ASP, Bayo Obadiah and his three accomplices; Inspector Okelue Nkemeonye, Sergeant Braimah Sunday and Sergeant Yusuf Olukoga falsely paraded themselves as operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad and extorted money in the process.
Prior to their dismissal, an orderly room trial was carried out on them at Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Lagos after which they were found guilty by the adjudicating officer.
The extorted money, N200,000 was recovered from them. The money was gotten from the illegal operation carried out on June 21st, 2017 in Ikorodu area of Lagos where they defrauded innocent residents.
