Nigeria has begun emergency plans to evacuate its citizens trapped in Israel and Iran as tensions between both countries worsen.
In a statement on Tuesday night, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Nigerian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran are already compiling names of affected citizens and reaching out to them for possible evacuation.
Spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa urged Nigerians in both countries to remain calm, follow local security advice, and register with the nearest embassy immediately.
The Federal Government commended its diplomatic missions for working tirelessly to ensure no Nigerian is left behind.
This comes days after Israel launched major airstrikes on Iran, killing top military commanders and drawing threats of retaliation from Tehran. Iran’s Supreme Leader called the attack a “declaration of war,” warning of a painful response.
Nigeria also joined global calls for a ceasefire, urging both nations to embrace peace and protect civilians.
