The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has taken a decisive stand against the recent fuel pump price hike and other policies implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
In an exclusive statement to DAILY POST on Wednesday, Mr. Ben Upah, the NLC spokesperson, confirmed that the organization has issued a nationwide strike notice in protest.
The impending strike, set to commence on 2nd August 2023, aims to draw attention to the rising fuel costs and demand a reversal of the government’s contentious policies.
The NLC believes that such measures have significantly burdened the citizens, leading to economic hardships for the masses.
Mr. Upah stated, “Yes, the nationwide strike will commence on the 2nd of August, 2023. We will soon issue a communique to that effect.”
The announcement has ignited widespread anticipation, as workers and various groups across the country prepare to participate in the nationwide industrial action.
The NLC has been actively engaged in negotiations with the government, seeking a resolution to the contentious issues, but with little progress made, they have opted for the significant step of a nationwide strike.
