Nigeria advanced to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 after a 1-0 victory over Angola in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles scored a goal in the first half to secure their place in the last four of the continental tournament.

The first goal came in the 47th minute, when Ademola Lookman curled a free kick into the top corner, leaving Angola goalkeeper, Signori Dominique, helpless.

Lookman, who plays for Leicester City in the English Premier League, celebrated his third goal of the competition.

What appeared to be a second goal for the Nigerian team that was scored by Victor Osimhen was ruled out by VAR as offside.

Osimhen, who plays for Napoli in the Italian Serie A, had his goal canceled taking back the Super eagles to 1-0.

Angola tried to find a way back into the game, but Nigeria’s defence, led by captain William Troost-Ekong, was solid and denied any clear chances for the Palancas Negras.
