NFF Denies Banning Victor Osimhen, Contradicting Reno Omokri’s Claims
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted reports of banning Super Eagles’ forward Victor Osimhen from the team due to his recent social media outburst.
According to a report by Premiuntimesng, NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, expressed surprise at the reports and clarified that no official communication regarding a ban has been made.
Sanusi emphasized the importance of resolving issues positively and focusing on the bigger picture, especially with the upcoming 2025 AFCON and 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He urged the media to join hands with the NFF to resolve matters amicably and avoid spreading falsehood.
This development comes after Osimhen’s public disagreement with former Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, and Reno Omokri’s statement disagreeing with the alleged ban, citing Osimhen’s valuable contributions to the team.
Omokri had argued that banning Osimhen during a crucial qualifying round was counterproductive and suggested addressing the issues behind his outburst through a private conversation.
The NFF’s denial of the ban highlights the need for accurate information and emphasizes their focus on preparing for upcoming tournaments.
The federation is committed to resolving all matters related to the Super Eagles and moving forward with confidence.
In a statement, Sanusi said, “Our focus is to resolve all matters around the Super Eagles and look ahead with confidence to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series. This is not the time to spread falsehood and foul the public space the more.”
