Aribemchukwu, the recently married daughter of Federal High Court Judge Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia and a medical doctor, was tragically murdered at her residence in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.
The incident has raised suspicions, leading to the arrest of three domestic staff members believed to be connected to the crime.
Aribemchukwu was discovered dead early Wednesday morning outside the gate of her home under suspicious circumstances.
Sources close to the family revealed that she was killed on Tuesday night, with attempts made to clear the evidence by cleaning bloodstains both inside the house and in the surrounding area.
“There are indications that the new household staff may have been involved and attempted to stage the scene,” a family source disclosed. “They had been hired less than a month ago, and she was alone with them at the time.”
Confirming the arrests, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, stated, “Our investigation into this tragic incident is underway. We have arrested three individuals, including a driver and two maids, in connection with the murder at Justice Ajumogobia’s residence.”
The suspects, who have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, were reportedly planning to rob the residence shortly after being employed. During interrogation, they confessed to fatally injuring Aribemchukwu when she unexpectedly discovered them in the act of robbery.
After cleaning the crime scene and concealing stolen items, the suspects were apprehended with the assistance of estate security. The Ikoyi Police Division was initially involved before the SCIID, Panti, took over the case.
