New Alaafin of Oyo, Set to Be Crowned Amidst Oyomesi Legal Dispute
The much-anticipated coronation of Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo is scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2025, marking a historic moment for Oyo town in Oyo State.
Reliable sources have confirmed to The Sun that several committees are currently being formed in collaboration between the Alaafin’s palace and the Oyo State Government in preparation for the historic event.
Prior to his coronation, Oba Owoade will pass through a series of traditional seclusion rites, known as Alaafin Rituals, deeply rooted in Yoruba culture and spirituality.
These rites are specifically designed to prepare the monarch physically and spiritually for his sacred role.
