The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), showing that 60.26 percent of candidates obtained five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.

Announcing the results at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Wednesday, NECO Registrar, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said a total of 818,492 candidates met the benchmark out of those who sat for the examination.

“Number of candidates with five credits and above, including Mathematics and English, is 818,492, representing 60.26 percent,” Prof. Wushishi stated.

He further disclosed that 1,144,496 candidates, representing 84.26 percent, secured five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.

According to the Registrar, 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination nationwide, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females.

Out of this number, 1,358,339 candidates eventually sat for the examination, with 680,292 males and 678,047 females.

The Council noted that the results reflect a steady participation of male and female candidates, with only a slight margin between both genders.

The release of the results comes as schools, parents, and students nationwide look ahead to tertiary admission processes, where English and Mathematics remain compulsory requirements for entry into most institutions.
