Legislative aides at the National Assembly and some contractors have expressed growing frustration over unpaid salaries and outstanding contract payments, as January 2025 wages remain unsettled.

Despite it being the 13th day of February, these workers have not received their dues, leading to complaints and groaning among them.

While some contractors have reportedly been waiting for payments dating back to 2023, legislative aides are facing the brunt of the delay, with no indication of when they will receive their January salaries.

A source privy to BlackBox Nigeria revealed that while permanent legislative aides had been settled with their salaries, aides at the Senate and House of representatives are yet to be given their January Salary for this year.

Meanwhile, there is absence of communication from relevant authorities, which only heightened concerns, with aides and contractors alike feeling neglected and sidelined.

Legislative aides, contractors have called for immediate intervention, urging that payments be processed as soon as possible to avoid further disruptions. The delayed payment has left many struggling to meet their financial obligations, while contractors have voiced their dissatisfaction over the government’s failure to honor agreements made for the completion of different projects.

The main crux of the matter which erupt groaning is the continued silence from the National Assembly leadership, which has not provided an official response to the delayed payments.

This has only fueled mounting frustration and discontent among legislative aides and contractors, who feel their hard work and contributions have been disregarded.
