The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Lagos staged a peaceful protest on Monday at the power holding company’s head office in Ikorodu, demanding improved electricity supply for LASUSTECH student communities.
The affected areas—First Gate, Odogunyan, Rofo, and Sheriffyt—have faced prolonged outages despite previous assurances from PHCN that power would stabilize within days. Instead, the situation worsened, prompting the students to take action.
NANS Lagos Vice Chairman, Comrade Kiakia Adams, who led the demonstration, said the protest was necessary to hold PHCN accountable.
“We engaged the management, and the technical manager assured us that power supply would be restored within 24 hours. He also promised a minimum of 16 hours of electricity daily for students in these areas,” Adams stated.
He urged students to remain calm while monitoring the company’s response. The outages have disrupted academic activities and daily life, and students now await the fulfillment of PHCN’s latest promise.
