Shock gripped Kings College, Lagos on Saturday evening after a 48-year-old teacher, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, was discovered dead under unclear circumstances inside one of the school’s rooms.
The school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele, alerted the Lagos State Police Command at about 7:40 p.m. after being notified of the incident at the school’s main campus on Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island.
Police detectives immediately secured the scene and conducted a preliminary inspection, which showed no visible signs of violence on the body.
Akano, a native of Oyo State, was rushed to Lagos Island Hospital, Odan, where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
His remains have been deposited at the morgue pending an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Police spokespersons say a full investigation is underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding his sudden demise.
“We are exploring every possible angle and urge the public to remain calm while we investigate,” the command stated.
The incident has left staff and students of Kings College in mourning, with many describing Akano as a committed educator who was deeply respected within the school community.
