Months after losing Reps ticket, Sanwo-olu’s ex-aide dies abroad

Abdul Raheem Owokoniran, a former aide to Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is dead.
Owokoniran died in the United Kingdom after a brief illness. A family confirmed his demise, according to reports.
The late politician contested for the All Progressives Congress ticket ahead of the House of Representatives bye-election in Surulere Constituency. During his campaign, he promised to ensure “politics without bitterness” and bring together different groups for victory if elected.
He, however lost, to Fuad Laguda who is believed to be backed by the immediate past Reps speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
Owokoniran served as a Senior Special Assistant to Sanwo-Olu on works and infrastructure between 2019 and 2023.
He was also a former Personal Assistant to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
