Olori Kafayat, one of the wives of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has died.
According to The PUNCH, the queen breathed her last in the late hours of Friday in the United States. She was the mother of Prince Adebayo Adeyemi, popularly known as D’Guv.
Bode Durojaye, the Director of Media and Publicity at the Alaafin Palace, also confirmed the development on Saturday morning.
“She died in the United States of America. I will give you the details later,” he was quoted to have said.
It would be recalled that Oba Adeyemi joined his ancestors on April 22 aged 83. The renowned monarch died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, where he was receiving medical attention for a undisclosed ailment.
Since his demise, the Alaafin of Oyo stool has remained vacant, though it was recently reported that twenty princes had shown interest in the traditional office.
