The burial committee formed after the death of Nollywood actresss, Moji Olaiya has publicly denied the alleged sponsorship of her remains back to the country.
Earlier in the day, reports had it that Governor Ayodele Fayose had concluded plans to finance the return of Moji’s corpse back to Nigeria for proper burial ceremony.
In a statement signed by actor, Yomi Fabiyi, it was disclosed that the committee was only hinted to approach the Ekiti State Government since the late actress hails from there.
He said, “We as the committee considered bringing her corpse back and and also reuniting her 2 months old baby with her family.
“We informed the Ekiti State Government about our plans because late Moji apart from being an indigene, she is also a Cultural Ambassador of the State. We made a verbal appeal through the Senior Media Assistant to the Governor, Mr Lere Olayinka who then directed us to make an official request.”
Fabiyi further stated that it was surprising to the committee members to see it in the media that the State Governor was sponsoring the return of her remains when they were yet to submit a formal request which was subjected to approval.
BBN gathered that the burial committee was forced to be set up by fans of the late actress so as to get updates on happenings as regards her burial. Then the committee was formed with veteran actress, Fathia Balogun leading it.
As at the time of filing this report, the remains of Ireti fame of Super Story is still in far away Canada.
