Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Cynthia Adebanjo, has been arrested by the police in connection with the ongoing reinvestigation into the death of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba.
The arrest was claimed by actor Yomi Fabiyi, who disclosed that Wunmi is among three suspects already taken into custody, interrogated and subsequently granted bail as part of the murder reinvestigation.
Fabiyi, speaking on behalf of the Break The Silence Foundation, said the arrests followed renewed police action after the Inspector-General of Police ordered that the case be transferred from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Area 10, Garki, Abuja, to the Lagos State Police Command for completion.
He explained that seven persons have so far been identified in the reinvestigation, with the foundation pushing for the arrest of the remaining suspects before they are formally charged to court.
In a final pre-litigation notice dated February 6, 2026, and addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, the foundation, through its solicitors, Tunde Falola & Co., demanded a credible, impartial and result-driven reinvestigation into Mohbad’s death.
The letter confirmed that the foundation received official notification from the FCID in Abuja that the case file and all relevant documents had been transferred to Lagos, placing the reinvestigation under the direct control of the Lagos State Police Command.
Fabiyi said while the group believes the police will act on the directive, it considers continued engagement with the new Commissioner of Police necessary to ensure transparency and accountability.
Mohbad’s death has remained a subject of intense public scrutiny, with widespread calls for justice and renewed pressure on law enforcement to ensure that all those involved are brought before the court.
