The family of M.K.O. Abiola, represented by Ameen Abiola, has requested that President Bola Tinubu fulfill the presidential entitlements owed to the late Abiola.
Ameen spoke to reporters during a prayer session held on Monday at the Abiola family residence in Gbagura, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari posthumously awarded the highest national honor, GCFR, to the late business tycoon, who emerged victorious in the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.
In addition to the payment of entitlements, the family expects the government to fulfill the promises Abiola made to the Nigerian people.
Ameen expressed confidence that the current administration would ensure that all the “incentives due to Abiola” are delivered to the family.
“We believe that this government has the capacity to ensure that all incentives owed to the Abiola family are duly received by us,” he stated.
“I trust that this government will go to great lengths to ensure that we receive what should have been given to us by the previous government,” he added.
During the prayer session, Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, praised Abiola’s exemplary life.
The governor urged Nigerians to “emulate his good deeds” as Abiola consistently adhered to godly principles in all his endeavors.
