Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s whereabouts remained unknown on Tuesday night, March 18, 2025, after military trucks were reportedly deployed to the Government House in Port Harcourt.
This happened on the first night of the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in response to escalating attacks on oil installations in the state.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing at least 10 military trucks patrolling the road leading to the Government House, while armored vehicles were stationed at strategic points along the route.
The usually busy road from UTC Junction to the Government House was largely deserted as residents rushed to their homes, fearing possible violence.
The deployment of military trucks to the Government House was part of the emergency measures put in place by President Tinubu.
The president had suspended both the governor and the lawmakers for six months and appointed an administrator to oversee the state following the escalating violence and threats from militant groups.
The situation remains tense in Port Harcourt, with residents advised to remain indoors and avoid any areas where military operations are ongoing.
