Meet Yetide, The Nigerian born American god #BBNSpecial

The world has been blessed with female talents of Nigerian origin but nothing prepared you all for this enigmatic thespian. From Hotel Rwada’s Sophie Okonedo to diva, Uzo Aduba of ‘Orange is the new black’ fame, Hollywood has had its share of actresses whose lineage is rooted in Nigeria but nothing prepared you for this new addition. 

In April, a new television series premiered on Starz and it is fast catching momentum  as the next big thing, well until Power and Empire return.

American Gods based on a novel of the same title by Neil Gaiman has all the intrigues and mystery of most fantasy flicks but what captivated our minds at BlackBox Nigeria is the mysterious love goddess,  Bilquis.

Bilquis’ first appearance showed her having intercourse with a white man whom she eventually swallows with her vagina. This scene has left many talking about the series which has just concluded its first season. 

BlackBox Nigeria however made further searches to discover the actress portraying Bilquis, Yetide Badaki like many before her is actually from Nigeria.

Born on September 24, in Ibadan SouthWest Nigeria, Yetide moved to the US three years later and that is where she has spent her entire life.

What many do not know actually is that despite her literary background, Yetide is actually a geek, a science fiction geek. She however has a degree in English Literature and Masters in Theatre.

Before her big role as Bilquis, Yetide has also has a shot on top series including ‘Lost’, ‘Crimial Minds’ and ‘Masters of Sex’.
