Meet Oladimeji Shotunde, LASU Best Graduating Student 2018/2019 Academic Session

22-year-old Oladimeji Shotunde, from the department of Business Administration, is etching his name into the history books of the Lagos State University, as he breaks a 37-year record to emerge as the overall Best Graduating Student of the 2018/2019 academic session. He has the highest CGPA (4.95) in the University’s history.

The Ogun State-born is set to be decorated on Wednesday, 16th of December 2020 at the 24th Convocation Ceremony of the institution.

Oladimeji Shotunde founded the foremost student-led academic platform in Nigeria, EXCEL MINDS Academic Support, an organization that caters for the academic welfarism of over 10,000 members. In addition, he was a pioneer executive of the first campus-led SDGs movement in Nigeria, SDGsACT LASU.

Also, he represented Lagos State University as a delegate at the 2018 Edition of the Nigerian International Tertiary Institutions Model United Nations (NITIMUN) Conference, held at Abuja, where he scooped the much coveted award of “Most Outstanding Male Delegate”. He was thereafter appointed as a Conference Official for the 2019 edition of the conference, where he displayed excellence to emerge the “Best Conference Official”.

Shotunde was among the 50 student leaders, selected globally in 2019 for the Hesselbein Leadership Summit/Global Academy, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America. In addition, he was among just 50 Finalists shortlisted across Africa, for the Afresist Youth Leadership Program that held in Kenya.

He was recently appointed as a YouthLead Ambassador as part of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) YouthPower2: Learning and Evaluation YouthLead Network. Oladimeji is the only Nigerian of 22 Ambassadors chosen from around the world.
