Meet Abiodun Akhigbe, Man Likely To Take Over Late Tunde Braimoh’s Seat in Kosofe Constituency 2

 

With a by-election underway to replace the vacant seat of late Honourable Tunde Braimoh at the Lagos State House of Assembly for Kosofe Constituency 2, political forces are aligning behind the candidacy of Abiodun Oladipo Akhigbe, a former Commissioner 2 with the Lagos State Audit Service Commission.

 

Akhigbe was born on 16th December 1955 at Ifon in Ondo State. He had his primary education at UNA School, Inalende Ibadan between 1961 to 1966 and secondary school at St. Patricks Grammar School in Ibadan from 1970-1974.

He worked briefly at Lever Brothers after completing his secondary education. He later joined UBA PLC in August 1976 where he served for 16 years in various departments especially in the International Banking Sector (I.B.S) .

 

He gained admission to the University of Lagos where he graduated with a B.Sc in Business Administration in 1988. By 1990 he was allowed by the Management of UBA to pursue a Master degree in Business Management from the University of Lagos and was later transferred to UBA Sokoto Branch as Assistant Manager, a position he held until his resignation in January 1992.

 

He went into business and set up SEY-KEN Limited, at Ketu Lagos, a Nylon producing factory. He veered into Politics and became prominent. His contributions to Nation building soon led to his appointment as an Education Secretary in the Local Government Education Authority in 2011 and his re-appointment for another five- year tenure.

 

In line with the requirements of that Office, he obtained a Post graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Lagos. He held this post until he was appointed as a Commissioner with the Lagos State Audit Service Commission on 2nd of November, 2015, a position he held till 2019.
