Medical Tourism: Lagos State Partners With AXA Mansard, Floats Health Insurance Agency

Lagos State Government on Wednesday met with representatives of AXA Mansard as it fine tunes its healthcare insurance for both public and private sector.

The decision to float the healthcare insurance agency was disclosed by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Jide Idris in his welcome address.

The Commissioner disclosed that the new healthcare agency will be backed by the State Law and funded by all its citizens.

In its partnership plan with the State Government, Chief Executive Officer of Mansard Insurance, Mrs Yetunde Ilori disclosed that the firm was ready to start with a 150-bed hospital in Lekki area of Lagos.

It was also disclosed that primary healthcare centers will be constructed around the State before expanding to other locations in Nigeria.

The insurance company also applauded the Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration for the infrastructural development the State has been witnessing since he assumed office.

The partnership between the Lagos State Government and AXA Mansard Insurance is aimed at curbing the medical tourism being embarked upon by Nigerians and projects towards turning the State to an healthcare hub in Africa.
