Musliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo has been reinstated as the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to oversee activities at motor parks and garages throughout the state.

In a significant development, the Lagos State Government finalized its plans to dissolve the Park and Garages Committee (LASPG), paving the way for the NURTW.

According to “The Guild”, it was gathered that this decision received the approval of State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

It was reported that Sanwo-Olu has instructed the Ministry of Transportation to disband the committee and reinstate NURTW.

This move comes just 24 hours after the former LASPG chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, publicly reintroduced NURTW, along with thousands of its members in the state.

The dissolution occurred on a Friday, following the state government’s decision to lift the indefinite suspension imposed on NURTW roughly one and a half years ago, stemming from internal leadership disputes among its members.

It was also gathered that this decision comes after weeks of mediation between the National Committee and the Lagos State Chapter of NURTW, facilitated by the Lagos State Government, aimed at resolving the crisis that had caused a rift among members.

During a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Transportation by Union Leaders, Permanent Secretary Abdulhafiz Toriola confirmed that the State Government had taken necessary steps to ensure a peaceful resolution between the National and State Chapters of the Union by lifting the suspension that had been in place for over a year.

Toriola also commended the executives of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee for their steadfastness and urged the Union to maintain peace while transitioning back to NURTW.

Former National President of the Union and Chairman of the Transition Committee, Najeem Yasin, expressed appreciation for the State Government’s efforts in the resolution process and pledged the union’s continued support for the law and the development of the state.

MC Oluomo therefore conveyed his gratitude to the State Government and the National EXCO of NURTW for their support and assured the Lagos Chapter’s cooperation.

Notable members of the National body present during this development include Comrade Aliyu Issa Ore, Hassan Haruna, and Comrade Kayode Adeyanju, among others from the Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee.
