Unlike other Local Governments and LCDAs that had disagreement in arriving at the candidate of APC in the last primary election held on May 27, 2017 at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere; Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s candidature was accepted by all and sundry, including party leaders and followers.
Members of the ruling party and residents of Agboyi-Ketu who spoke to BlackBox Nigeria felt choosing Mayor Dele Oshinowo as the party candidate would give APC a smooth ride during the general elections coming up in July.
Ganiyu Owoyelu, an indigene and convener of Greater Agboyi-Ketu Movement told BBN that being a tested, trusted and loyal party member whose invaluable sacrifice and service to the community in his capacity as a former Secretary to the local government cannot be wished away, Oshinowo stands a better chance to consolidate on the achievements of the previous administration.

Another female resident who was identified as a Community Leader in Agboyi-Ketu, noted that giving his age bracket, he represents the youth who have been clamouring for their inclusion in governance in Nigeria, especially at the grassroots.
A member of National Union of Road Transport Workers, who does not want his name in print told BBN, “Dele Oshinowo is capable, competent and conversant with the dynamics of governance within the locality.”
