Reports coming out of Turkey have suggested that Fulham are interested in signing Mario Balotelli in the summer.
The 31-year-old is currently plying his trade with Turkish side, Adana Demirspor.
The mercurial Italian striker is having a successful season in Turkey and at the height of his prowess, was called up to the Azzurri training camp by coach Roberto Mancini last month.
Balotelli has made 22 Super Lig appearances so far this season, for a total of 1480 minutes. In that time, he has scored ten goals and provided three assists in his outings for the top flight club, who currently sit in the 5th place on the Super Lig table.
But numerous reports have suggested that Fulham will recruit Balotelli in the summer should they earn promotion back to the Premier League. Though, as Hammyend.com pointed out, news about the ex-Liverpool star must be taken with a pinch of salt after many reports go on to claim that Fulham’s star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is poised to join Juventus in the summer, with Balotelli as a possible replacement.
Mitrovic was heavily linked with the Italian giants earlier in the season, though there’s been no reports since then, suggesting that Juventus remain interested.
Despite being ridiculed throughout much of his career, Balotelli is a player who’s enjoyed a relatively illustrious career. He’s won Serie A titles, Premier League titles, a Champions League title and countless domestic trophies, whilst also scoring 14 goals in 36 outings for Italy. Balotelli has played and scored in World Cups and Euro tournaments and has given fans some fond memories.
Though his later career has taken a detour around Europe and whilst he remains fairly prolific, it seems unlikely that Fulham would look to him to replace Mitrovic’s goals in the summer, and it also appears uncertain that Mitrovic would leave Craven Cottage after this season.
