Maolud Nabiyy: FG declares Tuesday public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 19, a public holiday in celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made the declaration on behalf of Federal Government, in a statement released on Friday.

According to the statement issued by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the minister “congratulates all Muslims faithfuls at home and in the diaspora for witnessing this year occasion.”

Aregbesola admonished Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of The Prophet which includes love, patience, perseverance and added that doing so would guarantee peace and security in the country.

He also enjoined Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to refrain from violence, lawlessness and other act of criminality, saying that “as the indisputable leader of our race we must show responsible leadership in Africa.”

“The Minister, while calling for a stop to all divisible tendencies across the country, urges all Nigerians and the youths in particular to embrace the virtues of hardwork and peace disposition to fellow human irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity and cooperate with President Muhammed Buhari’s led administration in his effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens will be proud of,” the statement added.
