Manchester United Sack Ruben Amorim Amid Poor Results, Internal Tensions

Manchester United have officially dismissed manager Ruben Amorim following a disappointing stretch of results and internal tensions that culminated in the club sitting sixth in the Premier League table.

Amorim, who took over the reins at Old Trafford in November 2024, had been brought in to spearhead a new era of rebuilding at the club. While his tenure showed flashes of promise including guiding United to the 2025 UEFA Europa League final, inconsistency on the pitch and off-field controversies ultimately cost him the job.

The club made the announcement on Monday, confirming that the decision was made to protect United’s ambitions for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season. A recent 1-1 draw with Leeds United, followed by Amorim’s fiery post-match comments, reportedly deepened the rift between him and the club’s top brass.

Darren Fletcher, a former United player and current youth coach, has been appointed interim manager while the board initiates a search for a permanent replacement.

The latest sacking adds to United’s turbulent managerial history since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, as the club continues its struggle to regain domestic and European dominance.
