Although the east side of Manchester was the likely home of Christiano Ronaldo, several media outlets have reported that Manchester City passed on the opportunity of bringing the 5-time Ballon D’Or winner to the Etihad Stadium.

Previously, it seemed like City was the only option for Ronaldo, but a slip from the former was leveraged on by Manchester United, who stepped up their interest in bringing back their former playmaker to Old Trafford in the past 48 hours.

This move by Manchester United was then officially confirmed on Friday afternoon, that the Red Devils had indeed signed the Portugal international on a two-year contract having reached an agreement with Juventus.

However, ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Arsenal, at home on Saturday, Pep Guardiola has delivered his verdict on United managing to strike a sensational deal to bring Ronaldo back home.

Quoted by Joe Bray of Manchester Evening News, Pep said, “Frustrated isn’t the right word. We (City) have an exceptional squad. I thank the club (City) for (providing me) the best players possible. It’s good that a player like Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the Premier League. (It is) good news.”

After failing in their pursuit of Tottenham forward, Harry Kane, City are focused on defending their title without having an out-and-out striker among their ranks.

Meanwhile City boss, Pep Guardiola, is still confident that he is content with the current set of attacking options at his disposal.
