Man Arrested For Beating Wife To Death Over Ramadan Food

A 50-year-old man, Alhaji Nuru Isah, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly beating his 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdullahi, to death with a cane.

The incident occurred on March 1, 2025, near Government Girls College in Bauchi, after a misunderstanding over food preparations for Ramadan escalated into a violent confrontation.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the suspect used a cane to assault his wife, causing her to collapse. She was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Wakil stated that the police received a report of the incident at around 11:30 pm on March 1 and immediately launched an investigation.

“The suspect is currently in our custody, and we are working to ensure that justice is served,” Wakil said.

Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad has assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring justice in the case, emphasizing that domestic violence is a serious crime with severe consequences.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for tougher laws against domestic violence.

The case is currently under investigation, and the suspect is expected to be charged to court soon.
