The security meeting which doubled as a press conference, had in attendance the three Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), representatives of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the State Environment and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce), the Elewu of Ewutuntun Oba Shakirudeen Adesina Kuti and Secretary to the Local Government.
The Local Government boss cleared the air that indeed a fracas ensued between factions of the leadership of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at the flagoff campaign of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and ensured that there’s no cause for alarm as regards the safety of lives and poverty.
“It’s no longer news, the fracas that occurred at the Mega Campaign flag off of the All Progressives Congress(APC) at the sky power playground, GRA, Ikeja on Tuesday 8th January ,2019 in the battle for supremacy among the top echelon of NURTW which claimed a life and many injured.”
“There are insinuations and misinformation on the state of security in Oshodi. I have come to address the press to erase every doubt and restore confidence back in the mind of the people that Oshodi- Isolo Local Government is safe as haven.”
“Men of the security are on red alert to prevent any breakdown of law and order that may occur due to the incident which affected Alhaji MC Oluomo (Lagos State NURTW Treasurer), a resident of Oshodi.” He explained.
Muse-Ariyoh reiterated that he is in talks with the Commissioner of Police and he has assured commitments in forestalling any breakdown of law and order in Oshodi and its environs urging people to go about their businesses.
On the rumored news of the death of Alhaji Akinsanya Musilu popularly known as MC Oluomo, the LG boss expressed that the NURTW chieftain is currently hospitalised and recuperating fast and will soon be reunited with his family.
He finally warned those planning to cause crisis based on what happened to have a rethink as the government won’t condone any act capable of wrecking unrest on the community.
“Anyone caught in the act will not go unpunished. Oshodi is calm, peaceful and I urge everyone to continue to be law abiding, continue with their legitimate business while parents and guardians should warn their wards from any act of lawlessness,” Ariyoh said in a statement sent to Black Box Nigeria.
